It is safe to say that Skyline Displays Australia is an interesting place to work. No day is the same, each client has different needs and each employee brings a special set of skills. This is what makes Skyline unique.

One of our longest serving employees, Steven Mewett is getting married this month to his Irish love Sarah. We spoke with Steven about his role and got some great tips on how to design the best graphics for your displays.

Q: When did you first start at Skyline?
A: I started working with Skyline for the first time in October 2010.

Q: What is the main reason you have kept coming back to Skyline… 3 times?
A: Skyline provides a platform for their employees to grow their career if they work for it. I have been able to progress from Production to Service, from Service to Design and from Design to Team Leader. The other key factor when deciding to return to Skyline is the great bond between the staff. Finding a work place where you feel that any member of staff is approachable (and able to have a laugh) can be very difficult but Skyline prides themselves on their community of staff.

Q: What is your role at Skyline? And what does it entail?
A: I am the Design/Production Team Leader. This role has me managing the workflow in Design and Production ensuring that our client’s projects are completed with a high quality of care and that timeframes are met. I have also been exposing myself to CAD design for the past 2 years and I am now actively creating solutions for our clients from the concept stage.

Q: What is your favourite part of your role at Skyline?
A: I enjoy following the process of a client’s project from concept through to final delivered product. It is a great feeling when we deliver above and beyond client’s expectations.

Q: What 3 pieces of advice would you give to our clients regarding their display designs?
A:
1. Keep it Simple – Most of the time the best looking stands at a show are the displays with clean lines and minimal clutter.
2. Draw your clients in with intrigue – Try not to be hung up on plastering your message all over your display. Offer a small amount of information that entices a potential new client to come on to your stand and ask questions.
3. Allow yourself time – The difference between good design and show stopping design may only be an extra day in design. Whilst it is not always possible, always aim to get the ball rolling on concepts as early as possible. That way there is no rush and your displays concept can get the attention it deserves.

Q: In your opinion, what makes Skyline stand out from our competitors?
A: Our dedication to our clients – not only do we want to deliver a great display solution, we want our clients to be successful. We offer advice from stand design all the way through to how you can be more engaging with clients on the trade show floor.

Q: And finally, what do you enjoy doing when you aren’t at work?
A: Catching up with friends, Art, Gaming, Disc Golf and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The team at Skyline would like to wish Steven and Sarah all the best for their special day and their time away in Ireland. We look forward to welcoming Steven back (for a fourth time) in mid-September.
